Researchers at the University of Indiana have carried out a massive survey (more than 2500 US respondents) to check out the idea that lots of women shave/wax some or all of their pubic hair. Is it really happening or is it just hype, mainly confined to models and strippers?
These are the results:
18-24 years
Total pubic hair removal: 58.7%
Partial pubic hair removal (includes tiny landing strips upwards): 29.1%
No pubic hair removal: 12.4%
Remove all or part: 87.8%25-29 years
Total pubic hair removal: 44.6%
Partial pubic hair removal: 39.4%
No pubic hair removal: 16%
Remove all or part: 84%30-39 years
Total pubic hair removal: 31.82%
Partial pubic hair removal: 49.5%
No pubic hair removal: 18.7%
Remove all or part: 81.3%40-49 years
Total pubic hair removal: 22.5%
Partial hair removal: 49.7%
No hair removal: 27.8%
Remove all or part: 72.2%50-68 years
Total pubic hair removal: 11.2%
Partial hair removal: 37.1%
No hair removal: 52.1%
Remove all or part: 48.3%The results are striking. It’s only when you get the group past 50 years old that a slight majority who have no pubic hair removal routine. Even in the 40-49 age group its 72% who remove all or part.
